With school out for the summer, Brandon is working to earn enough money to buy a 1965 Mustang convertible. To do so, he quits working at the Peach Pit and sets out to find a higher paying job. He is later hired as a cabana boy at the Beverly Hills Beach Club. Meanwhile, after taking a home pregnancy test, Kelly takes Brenda to the gynecologist where the truth as to whether or not she is pregnant is decided once and for all, but the results mean the end for Brenda and Dylan.

While working at the Beverly Hills Beach Club, Brandon meets Jerry Ratinger who hires him as a driver for his wife. However, when Brandon meets and kisses a girl, he is upset to learn from Jerry’s wife that she is Jerry’s mistress. Meanwhile, David, Andrea, Brenda, and Donna go to their acting class.

When Jack McKay is indicted on income tax evasion, Dylan goes out surfing in dangerous waters and is injured in the storm. The Walsh family take him to the hospital, but Jim is upset when he catches Brenda kissing Dylan. Meanwhile, Andrea, Donna, David and Brenda continue their acting class with Donna as Romeo and David as Juliet.

Jim encourages Dylan to get in touch with his mother, but Dylan is too proud to ask her for financial help. Brandon, David, Steve and some friends hold an after-hours poker game at the beach club. Dylan joins them and is furious when he loses a lot of money. The club suffers a break-in, and Brandon's boss is questioned because of a past (unjust) robbery conviction. In spite of Steve's objections, Brandon comes to Henry's defense by telling the police about the poker game.

Andrea has Brandon mentor young Felix from the Euclid Apartments. As doing so, Brandon soon learns that Felix is being abused at home. Meanwhile, when Jackie breaks a tooth, she goes to Mel Silver to fix it and the two subsequently go out on a date.

Brenda's acting teacher, Chris, asks her to perform a scene with Andrea to bring the insecure girl out of her shell. Brenda admits her crush on Chris to Andrea, who soon develops her own interest in him. The girls take Chris on a guided tour of the city, and Brenda is devastated when he seems more impressed with Andrea than in her. Chris and Andrea share a goodnight kiss.

The gang drives out to Yosemite National Park to go camping. There, they help a young couple deal with a surprise pregnancy. Later, Dylan saves Brandon when he almost falls off of a cliff; and the gang discuss their respective parent’s divorces.

New student Emily Valentine arrives at West Beverly and makes a big splash with the guys, especially Brandon and Dylan. The girls don't exactly take well to the interloper, especially jealous Brenda, who realizes she might want Dylan back after all. Meanwhile, Scott returns from Oklahoma and finds that his friendship with newly popular David has considerably cooled.

The Walsh family installs a new home alarm system, but the wiring is off, causing all sorts of problems with the alarm system. At school, Brandon meets Robinson Ash, III, the photographer for the school newspaper, and ends up dating his sister, Cherice. However, when Cherice's boyfriend, Devo, learns about Brandon, he is not happy.

Dylan's mother, Iris McKay, arrives in Beverly Hills and her arrival sends Dylan down a path of destruction: he ditches school, loses over 800 dollars at a pool hall, drinks and winds up in a fight.

A Walsh cousin arrives to stay with the Walshes, and he quickly catches Kelly's eye. Meanwhile, Brenda gets her driver's licence, but is afraid of driving alone.

Brandon submits one of Andrea's articles to a high school journalism contest. She wins the contest, but panics because a school district representative wants to conduct a home interview. Andrea asks her grandmother to say that she lives with her, but Rose does not want to play along. Steve gets a girlfriend through a "chance encounter" at the Peach Pit, but Kelly suspects that the girl is only interested in his bank account.

While out on a walk with Emily and her two younger cousins, Brandon and Emily get lost. Meanwhile, as David and Scott contemplate having an egg fight, Kelly finds herself in a scary situation.

During Scott’s surprise party, a devistating accident turns fatal. Meanwhile, Andrea becomes jealous of Brandon and Emily.

The gang heads to an underground club where Emily gets Brandon mixed up with drugs.

Emily shows up at Brandon's house and douses the gang's homecoming float with gasoline. Brenda and Dylan find her sitting on the float with a lighter, and Brenda is able to calm her down. Emily agrees to seek help. Brenda and Dylan attend cultural events because she fears they spend too much time making out.

Steve’s adoptive mother asks him to be friends with Chuckie, her old co-star. However, after being suspended from school, Steve decides to find his birth parents.

It’s Christmastime and Steve heads to Albuquerque to find his grandfather in order to find out why his mother put him up for adoption. Meanwhile, Dylan visits his father in prison; and later, Samantha, Kelly, Jackie, Andrea, David, Mel, Donna, Dylan and Steve head to the Walsh house for Christmas dinner.

Brandon, Steve and Dylan join a hockey team coached by Jim. There, Brandon meets Trisha, a figure skater and the two hit it off. However, her coach is not happy with their new relationship when it begins to interfere with her practicing. Meanwhile, when Deidre steals Brenda’s big commission, Brenda sets out to get back at her.

Brandon and Andrea decide to conduct an investigation, and Kelly's friend Kyle provides them with details. The track coach cancels all practices until the steroid users come forward. The other guys suspect that Steve was Brandon's source, and threaten to beat him up unless he takes the rap. At the last minute Kyle admits that he fed the information to the Blaze, which devastates the team but relieves Steve.

Andrea becomes angry when the school does not allow students to take part in a health survey because it has questions about sex. She decides to take her issue in front of the school board and lobbies for a program to distribute condoms at West Beverly Hills High.

Kelly's decision to confide in her friend's about her mother's pregnancy wreaks major havoc in Mel and Jackie's relationship. Brenda looks forward to a romantic Valentine's Day with Dylan, who has an unusual evening planned for them. Meanwhile, Andrea displays an amazing knack for picking winning horses during a trip to the race track with Nat.

While exercising Brenda gets asked out by a UCLA student.At his AA meeting,Dylan meets a old friend Sarah who is flirting with Dylan.The gang meets at the Peach Pit and at night there is karoake night

Brandon participates in a teen review committee that provides input to one of Jim’s clients, who is building a gigantic new mall. Marcie, the developer’s college-age daughter, aggressively pursues Brandon. Brandon is incensed to learn that the project would require the demolition of the Peach Pit. He squares off with Jim, who promises to stand up for Nat’s interests. Brandon takes Marcie to the Peach Pit in the hopes of gaining her support, but realizes that she only cares about her father and his business. The gang (except Brenda) tries to stage a rally, but Nat has already agreed to sell. Brandon becomes jaded, and refuses to listen when Jim explains the financial realities associated with adulthood. The deal eventually falls through, allowing Nat to keep the Peach Pit.

She goes to see a psychiatrist who diagnoses her with Post Traumatic Stress disorder. Andrea files a police report. On Saturday, the gang supports Brenda as she prepares to go to a line up to spot the criminal. She successfully identifies him, resulting in his arrest, and her fears are at least temporarily laid to rest.

Donna, fearing reprisal, jumps out of the elevator on an earlier floor. She sees her mother come out of a room and kiss a man in the hallway. When Felice later confronts Donna about being at the hotel, Donna forces her to admit that she is having an affair. Donna is devastated, but Cindy explains that her parents' marital problems do not have anything to do with her. Kelly attends the Color Me Badd concert with a free pass, and brings the group to the Peach Pit to serenade the forlorn Donna.

Brenda and Dylan plan a trip to Mexico, but their plans are foiled when Jim forbids her to go. She sneaks off anyway, but trouble at customs alerts her father to her disobedience. Meanwhile, Kelly hits it off with one of the men building her mother’s wedding canopy, while Donna frets over her parent’s marital problems.

A furious Jim goes to the Mexican border to retrieve Brenda. Jim bans Dylan from the Walsh house. Jackie learns that Kelly covered for Brenda, and embarrasses her by yelling at her in front of Jake. Brenda and Kelly get into a shouting match at the wedding rehearsal because they are tired of listening to each other whine about their love lives. A pipe bursts in Jackie’s house two days before the wedding. The Walshes agree to host the ceremony. Andrea believes she has been snubbed, but her mother eventually gives her the lost wedding invitation. Cindy tries to facilitate a truce between Dylan and Jim. They argue, and a hurt Dylan later rebuffs Jim’s olive branch and drives off angrily. Jim orders Brenda to stay away from Dylan. Kelly and Steve agree that they should only be friends. Jake finishes his job and walks out of Kelly’s life, but shows up at the wedding and admits his feelings for her.
